My 19yr old son past his test in October. Got some quotes for various cars and there's no way he's going to be on the roads at the prices - but more of a joke is how much the prices change depending on his "employment status" - for my own 7yr old 1.6 estate if he's "unemployed" then the quote was £7000, but he's going back to college for another course so when I put "full time student" it drops the price to £2800. This is on just 4k miles a year and restricted to social only (no commuting) AND with no use at peak times :-/
Total rip-off, I know the kids get hit with high premiums for their age and lack of experience, but when you see some of the other (older) road users it's a joke.
Even on a little 1.0 litre, £500 banger, Noddy car the prices were in the £1800-£2500 range.
