Ok so, i have looked all over this site and i cant find one. Either my eyesight isnt what it was or there isnt a one.

I didnt want to just start jumping in on threads out of the blue without introducing myself first.

Im Ed from washington/durham area. I havent been fishing for years(apprx 6) but just the other night i decided to hunt down my gear from the shed and start the purge of clearing the box and polishing me rod n oiling me reel. My wifes eyes just glazed over before i heard those faithful words what ya getting that lot out for??? I just smiled politely whilst talking to myself in my head.

I am hoping to get out for a blast on the blast in the next few days or so, noticed through reading the posts on here it is still a good mark with some half decent fish showing. Hope we get a good northerly soon to put it ready for when i get out:D. Does anybody know if it is still possible to get onto the beach with a 4x4? Always remember lads driving along the beach in theirs but not sure where they got on. If i can get my first session back after 6 years, fishing out of the back of the truck on the blast beach it will feel like christmas before i get my first cod:)

So thats me itching to get back into it, hope to start bumping into a few of you soon and best of luck with your fishing. I know im going to need it!!

Hello mate and welcome ,I've not fished the blast for a good few years and to be honest the times I did I couldn't see any way on with a 4x4 ,obviously others who are more in the know will tell you for sure.

Good luck with the fishing mate.
Steve.

No way to get a jeep on the blast mate. Only real access on foot is from the car park at the north end of it or approximately half way along the cliff top path there is an access point that english heritage/nature has put in. South end is always popular and less shaggy than the north end, and can throw up a few good fish.

My mind is going also as well as my sight me thinks. It was horden beach where i always saw the 4x4s my mistake sorry lads. I dont know where they got on at, wether it was crimdon or what but they were a common feature for a long time. Is horden codbashers still going? Maybe one of their members would know if it is still possible.

The peanuts teacher voice was spot on.:)

Welcome to NESA, last time i fished Horden beach was 2 years ago and there was lads down there in 4x4's, they get down at the dene? is that deneholme? crimdon dene? think seanyrooroo will tell you better cos thats his neck of the woods. Good luck and enjoy it!

Access is further along at Blackhall, first left as you come into Blackhall and then follow the road down. Take care when it has been wet as a few 4x4's get stuck every year.

def no 4-4 access to the blast ,if you are going to fish there when there is a big swell be carefull as the whole beech could be awash at high water , not much beech left.popular mark is fishing from the rocks at the south end, long walk.

Cheers for the welcomes and the tips on getting on the beach with the truck, Ive fathomed the road out its the one that goes down past the allotments at blackhall, cheers for that seanyrooroo. This will open up a much bigger fishing scope and without the worry of the car getting burnt out as has happened down there for donkeys, it was rife in the 80s. That and the fact of the gammy knee giving me gip (getting old).

If any members who normally only get to fish the disabled friendly marks because of whatever reasons fancies a look out im hoping to get down to horden beach in the next week. Should be a bit of a laugh off roading on the beach and hopefully a few bites.

Ed.
