is it still worth it

Most tackle shops make very little on bait. It's the customers that just buy bait and manage to buy everything else online that causes the problem for tackle dealers.

Totally agree mate supporting our local tackle shops is a must in this economy, once there gone that so called expensive bait won't look or sound so expensive when ya spending hours searching for our own bait.

IMHO any hobby is an expense but if you like/love your hobby it doesn't really matter what it costs, remember when we were kids and a bit trace with a hook on was tied to the plunder. It doesn't have to be too expensive, you can get a session in for under a tenner now that's not bad.

coddys

its great 2 b out fishing when theres a chance ov a coddy iv being wet so cold my hands hurt but when that rod tip thumps a few times i 4get all about being cold i dont think there many things that get my blood pumping like a cod bite only kidding dear;)

So tackle shops putting atleast 100% mark up on bait isn't alot and even if people were to buy terminal tackle from the shops, do you think they would lower the price. I have bought hooks from a shop in newcastle with a new barcode on over the old one with a 50p rise on 25 hooks, that about 20% from when they got it in stock.... IMHO i think tackle shops force people to shop online due to silly pricing especially beads and crimps, they are the biggest rip....

Although i agree with you on the bait for the time and trouble i have no problems paying prices, but won't buy crab, only worms and catch me own mackky.

You can get 12 crab for around £10 in summer. Thats 12 casts.

4 hours fishing for some.

£10 worth of bait. Just the same as if you bought 3 lug and 2 rag. What you expecting to pay £3-5

So why is crab expensive when you KNOW its the best bait and one crab can fill a hook or even 2.
