Isle of sky

Probably very few, if any, people off this forum have been digging up there.

Have a Google for NW Scotland sea fishing forums?

Hi Codone, I've fished up in Skye, from a kayak though. Caught pollack to 7 pound, and had over 20 fish in 4 hours. All on spinners dropped deep and jigged up. If you can find deep water close in I'd suggest this plan of attack. Can't remember where we fished however I'll find out and post on here. Best trip I've ever had. The water was gin clear, lots of mackerel too, it was October last year. at least pack spinning gear. I'll dig the photos out and put on. The weather turned literally in minutes and to be very honest it was nearly terminal, as we were a KM or so out. Watch the weather mate, locals will tell you the same. Good luck....as Arnie says 'I'll be back!'

Hi Codone, please see pics attached. Fished off the point on the left hand side of Loch Pooltiel, if you are fishing from the shore skirt under the cliffs on the left about 500 metres up on the left, and you hit real deep water close in; perfect for pulling a spinner through the kelp beds. Just an option.

I was with my very Scottish and very mad mate Greg, who makes Bear Gryls look like Bagpuss. I was in the family kayak, which is like the Graf Von Spey in terms of manoeuvrability, whilst Greg Gryls was in what can only be described as a hollowed out swordfish. I've since upgraded out of sheer envy.

Anyway, tight lines. PS- We also had Pollack on small pieces of mackerel whilst taking a break from the spinning.
