I must admit it is nice just standing doing nothing watching the sun go down or even better watching it come up,I some times wonder how many people heve never seen or witnesed a sun rise at 5am.. they dont know what they are missing ,,,,,,its beautiful.. As we all know.

Yep, Tich.....totally agree.
That\'s one of the reasons I love going out on the Friday all nighters (especially during the Summer months).
Me and Ian were on the end of Shields pier when we had the eclipse last year (happened about 4:00am) - we were the only ones there BRILLIANT

I know what you mean about the sunrise. It can be breathtaking, magical, and it makes you feel \'one with nature\'.
But, just as you are savouring the moment, some yappy f***ing dog bounds across the beach, stops to p*ss against your tripod, and then scatters your bait over the sand, while the owner feebly says \"come here Pippin\" - takes the edge off it a bit

aye its great in the summer when you can just feel the heat of the sun,done it many a time sitting on the end of Blyth pier with the bairn @ first light,won\'t be long now lol.Be nice to see the sun !

know what you mean mate,seen the sun rise hundreds of times while fishing off shields pier over the years(mostly summer though)many times been the only one there !! THEN MICKY QUAYLE COMES UP WITH HIS MINI WHEELIE BIN AND SAYS \"ANY SANDEELS ABOOT LES ? LOLonly joking mick......OR AM I ?...;-)

them sand eels and coalies are certainly doing the biz for the pike, nowt huge this winter yet but plenty low doubles and a 16lb 12oz. the best of the piking is in the next three months though when the BIG girls come out to play at spawning time and carry an extra 4lb or so of eggs !
getting back on topic, i\'ve seen some fantastic sun rise/sets both sea fishing and piking, makes you glad to be alive !

Two things will stay in my mind forever.seeing a meteor shower on blyth beach at 4am,and earlier this year seeing the northern lights when fishing Newbiggin.absolutely breathtaking!

all this talk of sun rises and northern lights, so here the sun setting over the island of mingulay tajen from the ardnamurchan lighthouse in november:

and wor lass took this one of the aurora that night. Apparently it had been the best they had seen up there in decades, and I didn\'y even know till the second last night when I was putting the bins out and happened to look up!:

we even managed to get it on video - awesome day all round, had over 100 coalies/pollack in a 4 hour session spinning under the lighthouse average a pound best 3lb

Forgot to mention, if anyones is interested, its the clearest day I\'ve ever had up there, the islands on the right are pabby, barra eriskay and south uist which is 74km as the crow flies!

This is a pic I took about 3 years ago (the view hasn\'t cahanged in that time.)
It heralded a red hot day, but unfortunately, I hadn\'t been, nor was going, fishing. Spent the day at work wishing that I wasn\'t there.

if i ever had an excuse for why i go fishing it would be.....getting a big suprise walking down saltburn beach at 3am and catching some young ladies skinny dipping hee hee. back on subject some beautiful pics there
