It's started

Saw 3 youngins at Hartlepool Headland walking about with spinning rods and coloured spinners 2 weeks ago. No fosters like, they were only 12-13

haha, shame they aren't in yet mind - could just do with a couple of hours and my spinning rod. nowt like an early session on a sunday morning with a spinning rod - in fact I might have to have a try this sunday up at st. marys - don't care if i catch out, the wander around the island is nice enough :)

Come to think of it heres another one I heard at ASDA the other day.

I was picking up some oil and 2 lads standing next to me, one of them says to the other looking at the WD40 tins something like
"aw ya remember when I caught all them mackrel off roker usin this like just sprayin it on the hooks nebody else could catch anything"

I had a little giggle to myself :) second time this year I have walked past WD40 and someone has mentioned its fishing powers actually

not ashamed to say ive used it,actualy its ALWAYS in my tackle box.mind you i usualy use it on kelpy rock marks, just spray it onto my crab @ mussel cocktales.does it work?well had fish using it as many an angler on here will also addmit to using it.its either the oils coming off the bait or just the actual sent off my cocktales.who knows.but in some cases it has helped anglers WIN comps.food for thought, another reg rant over.:)

Both mark!

Reg - I don't doubt the effectiveness of WD40, it was just the attitude of the chavs and the way they said it that made me laugh. As if the whole pier was catching no macky except him, being a pro fisherman and all...armed with wd40

There was 3 of them in the bakers this morning. Three cold pies and 3 cans of Irn Bru!

Feathers already tied to their rods.............very safe!!

so it starts, now i have a few things to say about fishing for mackerel and the so called macky bashers that go with it.

one, i have been sea fishing for well over 40 years winter ,spring, summer and autumn and i really look forward to MACKY BASHING during the summer months for a few reasons and the main one is that it's FUN, light line and light tackle, when you hook one of them stripies they go off like a steam train. plus there is't much else to catch anyway and don't start telling me there are other species you can target i know there is but mackerel are plentiful, bass and rays aren't and i like to go fishing to catch fish isn't that what its all about catching fish.

two, i am sick of hearing self righteous experienced sea anglers on this forum knocking the youth, ok they don't know a lot about casting and you do get a bit of flying lead in the wrong direction but hey we where all kids at one time and all of us had to LEARN and the best place to learn is watching and fishing with lads who know what they are doing, MACKY BASHING is how most of of us started and got hooked and the future of our sport depends on the kids so leave them and their rubbish casting alone, they will learn as we all have.

three, ****heads its easy to knock a few idiots and its only a few who get rat arsed on the piers and everyone makes a big thing about it, much much more that it really is, i don't mind a couple of cool tinnies my self on a hot july day, that does not mean im a **** head and to be honest all the time i have been fishing i have not seen that much misbehavior on any of the summer marks.

hopefully tight lines for the summer

More than a handful on roker pier everyday it's not the kids it's the lads and lasses between 16-30 scum is all they are, I think they should bring a rod licence in for sea fish personally.
