James Milner

How can Mike Ashley and messrs Wise and Jimenez claim Milner is worth £10m and not agree he's worth more than £15 000 a week?! Milner has been the most consistent Newcastle player for the past 3 seasons yet they would rather sell him than up his salary. If Steven Taylor is worth £35 000 then James Milner should be earning at least that. The lad grafts his stones off and has never given anything less than 110%, while Duff, Owen, Smith etc couldn't give a f*ck and earn 7-8 times more. After the Villa debacle the lad needs to be shown a little respect. There is the argument his final ball can be poor but he brings so much more to the team. Is it worth the risk signing an unproven replacement?? Or would it be better to up his salary and give him the credit he deserves?

Any thoughts?

Milner signed a four year 30 grand a week deal last year. Still got 3 years left to run on it.
How much does a 21 year old want. Think the irish man at villa has had a word in his shell like

That's what I was told as well, but the lad also said Taylor is on 50k so Milner aint happy.

A bit ironic if O'Niel has tapped him up after the way he winged about liverpool tapping Barry. If we get offered 10 million then id snap there hands off. there again you can see Millners point if they are paying the scouse thug 60 grand a week.

milner at best is a good player - lets not all get sympathetic about wages (7 - 8 times £15k is £120,000 ,and i dont think he or anyone else at NUFC is on that pay ) so that one is put to bed - if he wants to leave ,then let him do so ,why have a team member who doesnt want be there - it doesnt help at 3PM on matchday !!!! - if a 21 year old thinks that he can fulfill his dreams elswhere ,then let him go to pastures new - but as my Old Man once said to me when i left a job for more money

" The Grass MAY Be Greener Son ,BUT you STILL have to MOW It !! "

and how right he was

I would snap the £10M up at an instant ,we have players that will suit Milners position - But i would also offer him a better contract Vs what he is on !!!!!

because its easier to nurture what you have ,than train what is Alien to any business

Milner is a good player but his goal scoring record or assists for that matter over the last few years certainly dont match the performance he put in the other night against Coventry. He is no slacker but I think he really did try to shine a bit more than usual before his transfer request was put in. He recently signed a new deal and should be happy with it. He will be in a much better position to re negotiate if he can increase his goal tally and be a more productive assister over this season. I personally would love to see all players on a basic wage with a bonus scheme per game based on something like the OPTA stats for assists , tackles won, goals etc make them earn their cash, might stop some of them being fairies when they take a little knock. While I rant on I would also like to see a penalty awarded to the opposition if a player blatantly dives in the box looking for one. Could continue but I am off down the beach with the kids for a few casts.

Jonny:cool:

Bri, word has it that Owen has signed a new contract for £140,000 a week. There is no player at Newcastle good enough to warrent that kind of money. Millner is worth a lot more than Thug Barton.

totally agree - I would have sent Owen packing a long time ago - and milner is worth at least 45 - 50 a week ,but if he wants to ply his trade elsewhere ,i wouldnt be that fussed ,i want players who actually WANT to earn there wages ,not just expect them

sorry but nobody is worth that much and certainly no footballer is worth being paib the amount of money they get now. Time someone saw sense and stopped paying these prima donnas stupid money.

So Milner is now a Villain. Some might say £10m is good business, it probably would be if we had a decent squad. If he really wanted to go, sell him in next transfer window. We need players at the minute and i'll be very suprised if we can get someone of Milners quality for £10 million in the next 72 hours. What are the board thinking??

Come back Freddy Shepherd, all is forgiven...;)

Squad strength/size aside - it makes sense to offload a player that doesn't to want to play for us anymore and if you can make £10-12 million out of the equation then all for the good.

If Mr Team Dynamo Keegan can't sway him to stay then good riddance - I thought he played very well the other night...but it seems he was just trying to impress his future boss. Like Mr C says there's too many overpaid prima-donnas in the game and Milner has just taken a step in that direction. Like others that have gone before him the grass isn't always greener and he'll be quick to learn that.

I doubt it will be the end of Keegan...only Mackems and the tabloids would perpetrate that kind of nonsense ;)

I agree with Mr Charlton, it's obscene the way they whinge about money. But then again, I'm always being asked to give money to feed starving people while the EU pays 40 billion a year in farming subsidies to prevent surpluses and keep prices up.

The whole house is fitted with energy saving bulbs and we cut right back on consumption just to have our bills doubled to keep shareholders happy. "Pay as you Save"!

Revolution is the solution, lets get the ********
