fished the tyne at above location with me 80yr old old man, his first cast went 10yrds to the left at 45 degrees resulting in a sizeable whiting. second cast was the highest cast i have ever seen, flew up in the air and landed about 10yrds out resulting in a sizeable flounder.His third cast for once went straight about 20yrds out resulting in a undersize codling. I was casting as far as i could with huge baits on 4/0 pulley rigs, i could'nt buy a bite for hours but eventually avoided a blank with two canny flounders.
A very enjoyable morning despite the howling wind, all fish returned except for the whiting which me old man had for his tea.

Canny sesh for your old man and you. As again its a pain in this wind. Top bloke bob in reelsport. He had some good lug in yesterday.

nothing worse than being outfished by mistakes! lol....i was on blyth pier with my spinning rod and reel..best makkystrips i could buy...a russian guy turns up with the base half of a 12foot rod that is cut off to the edge of the top eye...then his reel has no handle it was like a spanner welded in ...bait was a feather handtied to a SINGLE hook and he had 2 bolts as a weight...he outfished the entire pier!!! i reckon he had easily 20 mackerels and i blanked...i left in disgust of my defeat lol

but it goes to show you can have the best gear and be able to cast 100's yards...but the fish are litterally anywhere!

Aye me old man has a battered old rod with rings missing and a second hand fixed spool reel which the bail arm keeps falling off.
