Anyone know if it's officially open all along or better still are you allowed to fish it in the ss open? The gates are still up but always open nd it's all been repaved but unsure if it's allowed in the open.

passed the other day it looks fenced off but theres an entrance to drive in the car park seen a couple lads getting there gear out the car

if the park is open to the publc then i would say it will be allowed in open, no doubt i will be corrected if i am wrong

Well the end near jarrow slake is open and the other end right in front of the tunnel isn't fenced off suggesting it's open to the public but the access path is, you have to walk over the grass and jump down a 3 foot wall to get there. The middle however is fenced but there's panels of the fence open at each end. Not sure whether they're open officially or is people have just opened thm themselves.

i use the pedestrian tunnel every day and i see lads fishing there daily, the fences that are there are only used for the sections that are getting tarmac put down.

In the South Shields Open Competition; all areas that are open to the public are in bounds. Up to and including the Stone Jetty at Hebburn. If for some reason that I do not know some area of Jarrow park has been fenced off and has unavailable access to the public, then this area must be classed as out of bounds. Hebburn mesh is strictly Out of Bounds and so is South Shields Pier if the gate is closed

I have fished there on a number of times the only part thats fenced off is about 30-40 foot from the part that sticks out you can walk down no problem and cut through the gate near the bike lift

All I am saying is that if the fence is there for a reason such as it is closed off for repairs to the jetty, and you are not supposed to be on the area where it is fenced off then it is closed for that reason and is out of bounds. If the fence is erected to stop public access then it is classed as out of bounds. Hebburn stone jetty is a prime example. You can drive your car to the barrier at the top of the marina and park, then you can walk around the barrier to get on the stone jetty, this is still publicy accessible so it is in bounds.
