Jarrow riverside

Fished at the riverside park on Monday caught "nowt" but i still got a few hours peace on my own. I am thinking of giving Whitley Bay a go in the next few weeks, but from what i have been reading up on the place i,m going to need a stronger reel i,m having a look on eBay for a slosh 20 or 30 as they seem to be the reel to use over the rough stuff. I,m putting an adult sundridge SAS flotation suit up on Friday some of that will go towards my new reel.

hi mt you wont be to sell gear on here untill you have 40 posts or youve been a member for at least a month

So there's no confusion here.

I was just letting you know that you can buy from there.

a ment selling his suit

I wasn't trying to contradict you mate. Just letting him know he can buy even though he can not post in that section with less than 40 posts.:)

what part of whitley you planning on tryin mate? cant imagine you would have much luck on the beach, more of a night winter venue when a sea is running. you might pick something up off whitley pipe or the lighthouse tho. good luck whatever you do!

Whitley wouldn't be my first choice at the moment. Theres the posibility of flatties from the beach. Watts slope is a good enough mark for flatties(no need to cast far, 30 yards is enough).
If you fancy your chances for a kelpy(coloured cod from living in the kelp) then head north to St Mary's or Hartley.
Fishing St Mary's is heavy ground. Fish Crisps gully on the flood. This mark is north of the causeway. If you walk straight across the causeway and up the stairs onto the lighthouse take a left and walk alongside the cottages untill you reach the stairs leading onto the rocks. Look out to your left and this is crisps gully. Again no need to cast far(i have had fish at my feet here) however varying casting distance can pay off.
On the Ebb(tide dropping off), fish the pillar at the back south corner of the lighthouse. You'll see a gully running out to the pillar cast parallel to the gully also varying casting distance.
My advice is based on personal success. You may catch anywhere around the island at different states of tide. Hope this helps and good luck!
