After a walk down the beach last night i decided to give it a go this morning, solo trip, as Big Tel was working.
I got to the marina at 7.30 and set off to do a bit of wrecking, what a perfect sea it was today...

Headed off 5-6 miles as the water was a bit murky up to around 4 miles, first drop macky, 2nd drop macky aaaaarrrghhh ...off with the hokkais and just a pirk attached to see if it made a difference....and it did..

Was never frantic but out of the next 4 drifts i managed a Pollock 3lb and a codling 3lb....The Catch 22 turned up and i lost the drift i was on.....lucky for me....as this fella turned up..

15lb 4oz, and what a fight it put up, took line off the reel for a few minutes till i got it off the bottom, best fight i've had off a fish this year..

I set off back in at 11.30, so not a great deal of fish, 1 cod, 1 pollock, and 1ling and a lot of mackerel, pirks did the damage, tried shads but no luck with them today , but still a great day to be out, and it was still perfect on the way back in....but the yokshire puddings were calling...

Gave Colin ( nice chap ) a call and he was fishing off Hendon, so paid him a visit and gave him the fish i'd caught, as his wife likes Ling and Colin very rarely catches anything..

spot on chris the water looks ideal thats a cracking ling even though i hate the bloody things lol not bad for a few hours fishing at all

Not been many Ling on Slinky this year since we started using the shads more and more - anyone caught one to a shad?

A lovely ling, looks like the start of the bigger ones that normally show up late summer and autumn. 15lb is my biggest and they don't half scrap to. Tony they do take shads quite readily I've had at least one a trip on the shad this year.

That's what the perfect sea for wrecking/fishing look like Chris, looks like you had a good day. Nice ling as well. I had one a month ago on the shad, but it was only about 5lb. Good report and great pics.

well done on the ling chris, water and weather today were exelent, we had a variety of fish today pollack, ling, and codling.

although not to the 15lb mark.........

Nice ling Chris , I keep threatening to fish for them , but haven't got round to it yet , I like those nice flat calm days when the boat hardly moves for the ling ............ not much chance of one of those this year
