Was at club match 2nite and heard that one of the Westoe lads fishing Shields pier lost his rod and reel over the side yesterday, its not what you're thinking though! The rod slipped out of his hands when casting and went ower and in the drink! The lads shouted at two fellas on jetskis that there was a rod heading out to sea and they went and got it for him and as far as i know he got it back, usually i would slate jetskiers for being reckless but on this occasion they were the good lads.

Might have been the same guys and if it was they deserve a good slap if they have also wasted vital cash from the RNLI though!

my son was on the inshore lifeboat that went out first, with the big swell coming in on the back of the pier they almost got dashed on the pier.
