July Codling

Headed out for high tide last night in search of some very early fresh run codling. The tide was very poor but a deep beach and a half decent sea had my hopes running high on arrival. I had 1 out on my very first chuck and couldn't help but be confident.

Unfortunately the sea seem to drop off very quickly and the fish were few and far between and not of a decent stamp. I ended up with 4 and Wally managed a ghostly looking coalie before we called it a night at high tide.

Better than nothing as they say and after all, its still very early in the year.

I'm expecting a better stamp this year Jim, a lot of last seasons were in the 1-2lb bracket. Surely there should be a few more over 3lb this year!!

Well Sean, judging by whats comming over the Gunnels it should be a good winter, trouble is we will probs get westerlies from nov to feb. heres hoping. :)
