Jumping fish

After a quick stop in RS to gut my new reel, saltist 30 very impressed with it so far, i headed down to a few marks i've been hoping to fish, ended up blanking but did see a fish jump clean out the water about 50 yards out from my mark, have no idea what it was any ideas? is it the wrong time of year for samon to be heading up the coast?

yeah everyone i've spoke to rates them, loaded it up with 30lb and gave it a couple of chucks and it never even tried to nest,, i mustn't have been trying hard enough lol

i got one 2 wks ago.fished the post on pier four codling first time lovely reels well worth the money.

Phil, did you count the scales between the adipose fin and lateral line. They just leap out of the water at sea to shake off the lice before the enter the river. Great reel btw
