just purchased a small fibreglass 16ft boat with cabin on , what's the best way to paint it ? some say spray it some say use a roller ? and also if anyone's selling an engine up to £450 give me a shout the boat has steering and throttle controls ready. cheers

I used a roller on mine which made a decent finish, just make sure its got a good key or it will flake off in no time.
the trouble with spraying is it will get everywhere

thats what we were thinking it would make a right mess, think i will go with the roller option. thanks

Roller on with a good sponge roller then go over with a fine brush.

what are you painting, anti foul or top coat

doing the lot mate the boats been sanded down got a primer the paint and a antifoul

I wouldn't use a sponge roller for the anti foul, I was advised to use the fleece type. The sponge ones just disintegrated. Might be ok for top coat tough, see what it says on the tin. Make sure you wear protection when putting on anti foul as it is naughty stuff, particularly when rubbing it down.
