Well, with all this fine weather and flat seas were having at the moment, I thought it would be rude not to indulge in a spot of yak fishing this morning.
Launched at marsden bay stone steps for 8.00am, and paddled with the tide towards souter.

The sea was like glass, and the sun beamed down through a cloudless sky.

Tried a few drifts over some ground off marsden rock, that produced zilch.
Decided to head out further and try a wreck.
Bingo! Bumped about 4 fish off, one after the other, then magaged one about 3lb

followed by another of similar size. I then hooked something slightly better,

5lb 5.
Slack water then reared its ugly head, and the bites stopped, did manage another about 2lb.
Decided to head into a cove for a bite to eat, and a stretch of the legs.

Headed back out to try another wreck, nowt doing but managed a mackeral, then drifted back with the tide to marsden.

Hello,
good report and photos, great stuff. Nice kayak also.

I have a Prowler 13 and I usualy launch at Trow point or Whitburn. A few weeks ago I thought I would try the stone steps, so early one morning I tried it, I got my kayak and gear on the trolley and got half way down the steps....then I thought "hold on can I pull it back up!!!"
Well I did pull it back up but my lungs were hanging out like hot water bottles when I got to the top!! I was lying on my back on the grass with a purple face and a bloke walking his dog thought I'd had a fit!

Thanks again for posting the photos
Regards Ian.

Cheers for the comments lads, it really is a nice way to spend the day that close to the water hunting the fish! spent the day down the wherry at whitburn today with the family, but couldnt help feeling gutted about not being afloat, looking out to sea, flat calm, no wind, sure I could smell them cod! Heres hoping for a cracking summer:D
Tightlines.
