kayak fishing 22/5/10

Originally planned an all day session out on the yak today, but due to other commitments (bbq:D), a short afternoon session was the best I could manage! Anyway, marsden bay stone steps was again the launch point and after another shoulder breaking struggle, myself and my mate mark were on the water for 3.00pm. A strong southerly breeze made the going tough, as we headed south towards souter

The sea wasnt as flat as yesterday, so we decided to stay inshore and fish the ground off whitburn/souter. It wasnt long till the fish started showing some interest.

A nice brace 3lb and 2lb, taken in quick succession. Both myself and mark then magaged to bump a couple off, before mark landed a fine 4 pounder.

I managed 1 more 2lb, then as the tide slackened off, the bites dried up. Couldnt help feeling that had we arrived earlier, we would have bagged up! By now the wind had eased, and the sea settled, but with the promise of beer and curry on our minds, we drifted back towards marsden, catching plenty of small coalies and codling on the way.
