Kayak Help And Advice Please.

After a lot of research I've decided to buy a Kayak. I know that safety is paramount, but how far do you go.

I intend buying a dry suit and pfd.

Do I need a VHF radio and course, if so can I do the course locally.

Do I need a GPS and flares.

Whats the best trolley to buy.

Kitting out the Yak. Anchor and pulley system, what weight anchor, what length of line, can I buy the parts locally.

Fish finder, mainly for checking the bottom.

Fishing rod. I been looking at the Super Kenzaki 12/20, is this good enough or is there a better alternative.

What size weights, is 5oz heavy enough or do I need bigger weights for bigger tides.

Is there anything I've missed.

Are there any local Yak clubs or meets as I think it could get quite lonely out there.

Regarding the kayak m8 im in the same situation as yourself ,i looked at a kayak yesterday at amble ,it was a feel free 9ft 6 ,the guy in the shop said its a great kayak and ideal for inshore fishing,he said dont need a dry suit if ya not going out in the winter ,but you do need good water proofs ,and a good b/a and various safety eqiupment,i just cant make the jump,i dont no anyone thats got one ,apart from what i read on off the yakas on here ,i got to have one ive done a bit of homework ,but i still like it from the horses mouth .i would like a 13ft one but im tight for space and transport ive only got small car.

You will see people on Blyth beach normally I launch from the hole in the wall and if the weather is decent you will always see someone down there and just chat to them, and look to see what gear we all use.
With regards to a drysuit it's paramount really that you wear one all year around and even in the summer the water is cold and wearing a wetsuit you will get cold quite quick out there even this time of the year.
Radio is another must really as I tend to do all my yakking by myself so you will need comms if anything should arise but you do need to do a course which are done locally.
I carry mini-flares again as an incident can happen at anytime and try and go for a decent fishfinder mines got a gps built in but again if the weather closes in like fog it will get you back to your launch point and it's good for laying you onto the local wrecks.

But remember always dress for the sea temperature.
