diawa moonraker bought it second hand a few years ago first rod i ever bought probably worth a fiver now if that :D

My first proper beach rod was also a moonraker, i snapped the tip off about an hour after catching my PB at cambois. It's still in my loft, although I never repaired it.

My first 'proper' rod was a Carroll MacManus Conoflex, 12ft beachcaster with fuji rings. It was and still is fantastic. Carbon fiber, fast taper, rated to cast 5oz and built for me as my Christmas prezzie by Brian Rowe in Bridgend, South Wales to fish the storm beaches where I grew up. I'll never part with that rod.

my first rod was also a diawa moonraker the one to have in the 80s lol
got a conoflex dc6 given when i was 14 tip end was never rung about 15 ft complete with but section
still have it never been rung one of my to do jobs this year get it rung for multi and use it lol

Not sure if it was the abu atlantic or the 484,or are they the same.I'll check cos it's still in the garage, bought with an abu 7000.It's brown with metal eyes.Late 70's I think.

my first rod i bought second hand from id fishing when it was below the multi storey car park in shields it was a conoflex 12 foot not sure what model it had an aluminium butt section and carbon tip section it was like a broom shank still caught my pb cod on this rod a 5lber. i think it may be an early dc. it has green whippings to the rings if anyone has any idea as to what it might be let me know coz i still have this rod. and still use it from time to time.

it was named the abu atlantic, the 484 was cork handle with for then quality eyes , the 464 was shrink tube with spring eyes, the 474 was a flocked handle, only saw one of these and cant remeber the eyes, the gt484 was a cranked handle affair, all of them heavy compared to todays lightwieghts, in the right hands they could still perform near as well as todays rods

still use the old broomshank ,double nails for eyes carnt fault it ,wont budge in the wind and can lift out exellent for cliff marks too:)
