Killy Lake Carp - New Record??

This afternoon there was a 32.5lb carp taken out (and carefully returned) of Killingworth lake. The fisherman in question had caught the same fish last year and it weighed 28lb. Apperently it was distinguished by a very unique scar on its body.

Can anyone tell me if this is some sort of local coarse record? Of course it would have to be properly verified etc but was wondering if there had been any bigger taken locally.

Not knowing anything about coarse fishing I reckon the weight of that carp will take some beating:eek: it will be interesting to view any replies:)

C'mon Hiram!!

Lighten up fella this is after all a fishing forum! I understand there is a problem with certain people scranning our coarse fish but does it really mean we should not talk about big fish when they appear?

Surely there is more chance of people seeing my thread and wanting to go fish Killy for the sport and not for their xmas dinner! I've lived on the lakeshore all my life, believe me they would be hung up if they were seen anywhere near the lake!

I don't think keeping stum is a deterent to stop the eastern europeans...however a pool ball in a sock is a different matter.

haha i beleive you mate, i was reading an angling magazine report a couple months back that was saying there had been a load of eastern europeans chased off by anglers with shotguns coz they were caught taking pike and carp to eat. i've heard stories recently of it happening in the lakes and further south. Apparently its quite a big problem down south, theres vigilante groups of carp fisherman arming them selves to the tooth!! I gave the carp fishing up some time ago but could be temtpted to go back if they start issuing the lads with firearms as standard!

Bivvy...check....Boylies....check.....Bite alrams....check... Sawn off shot gun...check.

Fair play to them i say.

Id be keeping quiet about it. Our Eastern euoropean friends eat Carp at Xmas.

OI OI,
it's not just christmas & it's not just carp, but belive me i fish killy lake quite a bit & being right nexed to a council estate i dont think they would be on there long plus the lad that look's after the day ticket's is always out & about, i knew about the carp in there but didn't know there are carp that big, but the amount of bread that get's thrown in (carp love bread) i wouldent be at all suprised, there are a couple of decent pike in there all so.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ferryhill have a big problem with carp being killed at Fighting Cocks reservoir.

They have found several filleted carp which have been shot with a crossbow and filleted on the bank. These are fish between 10 + 20 lb.

This water is now heavily patrolled since this happened in the warm months and the problem has eased since the fished went back to the depths.

Cheers
Dave.

I was watching The Bill on ITV the other day when some polish dude got put in hospital, turns out he was doing the same thing untill the lake regulars got hold of him and give him a right kicking.
