Kompressor SS question

Alright lads.

I'm thinking about getting a kompressor SS but I've started wondering are they ok to use with a fixed spool reel? I can't get away with multis so if it's no good with a FS (penn surfblaster) I'll have to find something else.

Cheers.

you can use any rod with either reel tbh, its the way the rods are rung that suits the reel better for distance casting . ie , big first ring to accommodate the big loops coming off a fixed spool reel . the thing with a multi is to slow the reel down at first until you get confident then loosen the spool off ever so slightly and practice , practice , even use a level wind for starters is a good idea,so that the line lay is spot on I use a 6500 cs sometimes and achieve good distances ..nothing wrong with a level wind reel , yet some on here slate them . ??

Thanks for all the help lads. I've tried using a multi and just can't get the hang of putting the line back on. Just need to find one for sale now.

If i was you i would get it re whipped mate you will have problems using a fixed spool on a multi once you have a head wind they have different eyes for a reason if century or conoflex or someone else could just make one type they would save a fortune by doing that.

You'll be fine mate, honest. I've been using a fixed spool on a multi rung rod for ages with absolutely no problems at all with whatever direction the winds coming. Take this from two people who have done it.

Then if you want to you have the choice to use a multi if you ever feel like it.

I have not suffered ring wraps or noticeable loss of distance. You would only notice this on the casting field not everyday fishing situations.

Would you use a multi on a fixed spool rod? The lad said he cant use multis so why risk snapping off all the time when he can eliminate it buy getting it re whipped

No, but you can use both on a multi with no problems at all. I know this because I do it on regular basis. But if you say you can't then you must be right mate :)

At the end of the day you can use any reel with any rod if you want but they do build rods different for multi's and fixed spools the guides are placed on different sides of the rods spine.

Not saying you cant but what's the point of having a rod rung for multi when you only use fixed spool?

Ok then, he asked if they could be used with a fixed spool, the answer to that is yes. They can be used in multi built format for fixed spools, I've had no problems like this.

However if using fixed spools exclusively then request it being built for that.

Better?

Buy a level wind multiplier mate try getting to grip with that then gradually mive over to a none level wind ud be surprised how easy it is to get to grips with.and ull wounder wat all thefuss was about. They are so easy to use its just practise. Id say use ya fixed spool on ya rod it will be ok

I know what some of you mean about the eyes. Thanks for the opinions. I've got no intentions of ever using a multiplyer. I bought one and tried it and just didn't like it. I'm more than happy with my surf blaster and braid.

Is there anything available that is equal to the kompressor SS for fixed spool reels?

Thanks again.

Andy
