Been offered the chance to go on an all day boat trip I have it in my head I'm gonna spew me ring from the get go been advised on kwells and wrist bands looking for a bit feedback as I don't think the skipper would bring me back if i took a bad turn I'd love to get out and catch fish on the boat any help would be appreciated cheers

My brother suffers from it ,so he tried the wrist bands . It did seem to work i have to say , but we caught less fish due to lack of ground bait going in . Personally I think it can get anyone at any time , seen blokes who have fished for years at sea and never thrown take a bad turn . All the best though lol , no need for pictures

Try that:

Dont drink before fishing and have a good sleep

Take a Hyosin tablet the night before (something like joyride or boots own brand) and one first in the morning.

No breakfast, only a glas of water or juice

Dress well, make sure you do not get cold

On board: Dont go into the cabin, dont sit down, dont lie down. Try to get your tackle ready before the boat moves...dont play with iphone look at the scenery or land or whatever off the boat. Try to be as comfortable as possible

Bring enough to eat and try eating all the time small bits. Make sure your stomach never gets full and never gets empty

Seasickness is a lot psychology. If you think you will get seasick, you will!

If you have been out without getting seasick, your confidence grows and even bad seas dont get you anymore.

Worst mistake though is to do your first trip on rough seas on a boat that goes out far. Rather cancel, if a wind and/or swell is forecasted

Take a couple stugeron tablets two hours before you go, and chew on some
crystalized ginger, if you google seasickness there is a few that mention ginger, works everytime for me.

some great advice there from kartonkel:exclam::exclam::exclam:

if you do go remember skippers do have responsobilities ie if you ask to back in they have to make arrangements for that to happen. be it the life boat a helicopter,or returning himself

this may result in you being stoned to death by the rest of the party

good luck and look forward to the report.

just have to say again heed kartonkel.:exclam::exclam:

I was exactly the same as you mate before my first charter trip, I spent the whole week before worrying about puking and all the 'what ifs' if the skipper had to turn back etc etc etc....

I ended up enjoying it so much I went out and bought myself my own boat and havent looked back!

Good advice from Kartonkel, my only additions would be-

Take a Stugeron 15 the night before and two in the morning (I still do this now, probably acts as a placebo but hey ho)

Have a slice or two of toast for brekky

Avoid the back of the boat where you might get a lungful of deisel fumes

Good luck and enjoy your trip

Good luck louis, some great advice there! Hopefully you'll be yanking up that many fish you won't think about it, but if you do try focusing on the horizon! Normally works for me when I feel myself going!

Good luck

once you are over it its pretty much gone forever

it,s like car sickness with kids

you will be ok with the tablets from the chemist and a 6 pack of old jamacian ginger beer from the supermarket

enjoy

sea sickness

sea sickness

I swear by stugeron. Take two tablets before you go out and eat small amounts on a regular basis. Also drink plenty of water - its surprising how much the sun will get you during a boat trip.

No fizzy drinks as they are the worst thing to make you throw up its like shaking a bottle up and taking the cap off if you feel sick look at the land or horizon and drink water that Will sort you out

Stugeron for me also, never go out without taking it at least 2 hours before trip, if possible give it 3 hrs, does tend to knock you out later in the day though, be careful if you are out all day, loads of fresh air, knackered from loads of fish...... If you are driving home any distance you can get quite drowsy!
As also said plenty of fluid, can't beat water.....never touch the stuff unless I am afloat..... And regular small amounts to eat, I find any dry biscuit like digestives do the trick, haven't tried ginger biscuits as can't stand em!
Good luck and enjoy!
