Lack of posting in freshwater section

it's a ambition of mine to fish for chub barbell and zander but just don't know wear to start

Serious amount of zero posts on these threads guys, is no one fresh water fishing?

Not a lot of people freshwater fishing over the winter Jim,especially with the weather we have had.
When the weather warms up no doubt they will start fishing and posting.
I have only had 3 sessions at the Salmon so far with the river being out of fettle.

I've had the best winter ever mate, check my pike album out on my profile.

I've done a PB of 29.8 earllier this month and Tuesday I had a 21 from the Lake District.

Plus done a bit of fishing for silvers.

Plus it's more a lack of replies, plenty new threads.

Hey Graham, all good mate. Singapore next month so the fishing will struggle a bit.

It's a long story but basically I was down Bristol to fish Chew valley, our boat days were cancelled so we head off to Lincoln.
A few hours later I had the 29.8, I agree so close but my mate Ian is fair and accurate on the scales.
I then launched the flyer in the Lake District on Tuesday and managed a nice 21 too, so overall a decent winter.

What about yourself? Have you had your boat out?

Ps I'll not mention the last derby:D

I haven't been out since September on my boat mate. Been doing a fair bit of shore fishing though and a bit of fishing whilst on holiday. April for the boat all being well if you fancy a run off. Enjoy Singapore, was there a match I missed like? I am just happy with premiership survival after the departure of our best player!
Take it easy lad,

Graham.

lack of response

lack of response

Im quite sure that if every post was as honest and informative and interesting as BUSHWACKER then the younger and perhaps the older members would become much more interested and give it a try.Its of no interest to anyone to read of an excellent fish been caught at a secret venue. Its only a personal ego trip for the person involved.

I can't see any of those threads Ian, it's threads asking for info, etc. that have no replies. Look down this section.

If it's reference to pike catches Ian,

Big pike are not hard to catch, but big pike are very rare and very difficult to find. Also pressure kills them so that's why pikers are secret squirrel.

You really don't understand, that's if we are talking about pike catches?.

I don't think I'd comment on the fish you catch as I know very little, But besides this what is the point your trying to make?

angling

the point I have made is how do new anglers get introduced to a new sport or expand their knowledge with people like you who want to keep everything secret.did you become a pike angler without any help,i don't think so.Why do you bother posting if you don't want anyone to know anything. This is my final say on this post.

I thought you were having a dig at me, if you look down these posts and go back a few years you will see I've been most helpful and positive to other anglers. Even before this thread I've helped a guy (only me who replied) and even carried on by pm.
I've put a lot of input to this forum in what I specialise in, just because I dont give away my hard earned information so novice anglers can spoil my fishing, that bothers you?

Maybe you didn't read any of these threads Ian, being helpful to new pike anglers

Very informative to the novice, a lot of work was put into those posts.

Ian, I'm sure Jim would gladly help other pike anglers if they asked for advice on venues, baits, rigs etc but the point he's trying to make is that big pike are becoming rarer (Chew Valley aside) due to increased angling pressure, poor handling etc so it's in the best interests of the big fish for the location of big pike captures to be kept quiet, otherwise that venue where a big pike was caught would certainly see increased angling pressure which would be detrimental to the big fish.

However, I also see your point of view regarding non informative catch reports (big pike captures not included of course!) from NESA members (there's usually a few in the shore angling reports) where they only serve as an ego boost to the person who has written the report then followed up by several replies of nice fish mate, cracking catch pal blah blah blah zzzzzzzz.
