Last chance saloon!

I had hoped that with our second summer theatre school finishing last Saturday, Lynn and I would get away for a few days to the NE for a charter trip.

But no, Lynn's daughter came up from Birmingham for a "surprise visit" and I have been summarily dumped this week in the name of "girly pursuits!!" With Lynn going back to School on Monday I was not best pleased to say the least. I smell a conspiracy!:mad:

In a fit of manly pique I phoned around and got 2 friends interested in a charter next Wednesday while the schemer is at work! :D

So we are off to Eyemouth for a go on the Oceanic. I have never been out on her before, but she looks a good big boat, primarily for diving I am guessing, but they have a fishing trip next Wednesday, so we are on it! :)

My last chance for some decent fishing this summer off a boat and I hope upon hope that I catch a fair few Cod and make Lynn feel suitably jealous. Watch this space!! :)

Hard luck on the NE trip Mark, been getting some nice fish lately while
out with Jim (Northstar).

Glad you are catching Steve, I am feeling suitably aggrieved. We made a few quid off the schools and I was looking to spend it on a wee jaunt and trips out with Jim and Tony.

I fear most of it is now going on girly shopping!!

Catching loads of Cod next Wednesday should go some way to making up for it!

good luck mark make sure you have some tablets or ginger m8 hope you beat your pb m8

Thanks mate, been on boats with CalMac for 20 odd years and charters for 3 years and have never been seasick - well I was twice with CalMac, but was seriously hungover both times. :red:

My mate David however is a different story altogether! Been out twice with us and sick both times! :D:D

First time he took no precautions and spent 2 hours sleeping in the cabin after the Skipper gave him some tablets. Second time he was carrying pills but said he didn't need to take them..............he did................................sick again! :D

Took them and was fine an hour or so later.

I will make sure he doesn't set foot on the boat until I see him actually swallow the pills on the drive down!

Can't wait to get out. Spent all afternoon sorting out the gear, as my other mate is a charter newbie with no boat tackle, so I am letting him borrow Lynn's. Which presumably means he will catch all the fish!

PS Still haven't told Lynn I am going yet!!

I smell a conspiracy to leave Lynn behind. Were you worried that she’ll out fish you. :)
Good luck to the three of you.

That would do me just fine!

Thanks for the tip about ragworm, I wouldn'thave taken any, but I will now! I had been told about shadding for Pollock.

Well fish about still and the big ling be here now in better numbers, the sea should be flat so if you can get a good drift 0.3-1knot then you be in for a bumper day i am sure.

We caught on all methods last time out but we found the fish we did keep had empty bellys, before i went on holiday they all had sprats in the gutts of longastine...the 4 i gutted had a few brittle stars that was it....maybe the food has moved off and got the cod feeding again. We never tried for ling but i am sure alot about also waiting for the half a mackerel :)

Good luck
