Lead Heads

What\'s the prefered weight for these.

I\'ve had a look at the likes of Gerry\'s of Morecambe who does a 4 weight mould upto 100g.

Also like the look of the Fishtek ones but there mould only does 1oz and 4oz.

Is the worm/shad/twintail still going to have any bouyancy with 4oz of lead attached to it???

ian , ive got the mould that you speak of from jerrys , ive found the smaller one fished off a heavy duty plastic wrecking boom does the biz , good action . the heavier ones ive found just really stretch the boom to the limit .but why not give them all a try to suit yourself .

With these lead heads what size artificials are people using??

There\'s only so much my meager salary can afford :( ;)

1oz leadheads Ian the round ones are the best have a look at the do-it molds website and give veals a bell for some good prices on jellyworms no smaller than 4 inch though and preferably bigger.

Look this is supposed to be a serious topic, and it\'s being hijacked.

My salary is meagere especially for all the shit I have to put up with, especially from the KeithB. :o :o :casstet:

Just plead the 5th (??) amendment tomorrow if you get asked anything Keith, and if they push for an answer blame Prud ;)

Will have a look at the do-it moulds site, thanks for that. To save buying every colour going in the artificial world, (meagre salary and all that ;) ) is anyone prepared to divulge the best colours to buy.

Just wondered if anyone had tried any of the lumi head and body stuff from Fishtek cos they look the muts nuts.

ian i use 4 inch shads and up to 11 inch killer worms as i said just try everything which suits anf if you come up with a good combi , stick with it

Thanks for the offer Dave.

I\'ll get my own though and then I can make whenever I need to and not have to rely on others generosity.

Much appreciated.

Had a look on Harris angling site at the Shads, Worms and Grubs section. There\'s thousands to choose from. may have to order a nice varied selection.

Can anyone offer anymore advice on possible summer boat rigs.

I\'ve got me pirks, Nowegian style, 8/0 & 6/0 pennel ling rigs, hokeyes, muppets and daylights. I\'ll also soon have a mixture of shads, grubs etc. for lead heads. and a load of smaller size flowing hook traces for using bait.

Do you think there\'s enough there??

There is a rig in total sea fishing that i have used in the past. looks like a reverse pennel. you bait the smaller end hook (this is whipped to the larger hook) you then catch a small bait fish on the bottom one. Leave it down hope fully you will the catch a bigger fish on the upper one when it attacks the freshly caught fish on the bottom one. Have cought ling to 10lb on this rig and lost a lot bigger.

Don\'t know if this info is useful, but noticed the stick on eyes in yer pile there norman.

I buy em for big flies/lures etc and they ain\'t cheap. However... I discovered a little haberdashery shop that sells bags of \'googly\' eyes, 3 mm diameter and you get minimum of 70 in a bag for a quid fifty, they look just the bizz, although i don\'y know if the movement in em will make any differece to the fish.

The shops in consett, let me know if you want details or I can grab some next time I\'m there
