Lead Heads

Going to try shads/jelly lures this weekend...with or without leadheads firstly and also what kind of weight for the leadhead?

All i use is shown in the pic's

Either a 6oz lead head

Or a 3oz leadhead on a boom and a 5oz lead attached.

Sometimes just tie the leadhead straight to the main line with a weak link between.

Had my best days fishing last year using the boom and orange twin tail set up

Never used twin tails, may give them a go next week, but when i use shads i prefer to use the weighted storm type. Out on thurs i was having a bit experiment with colours but they all produced the goods 2 on pink 1 on blue and 1 on luminous.

Whilst on the subject, has anyone used Stormlures UK only sells Storm Lures ????

Prices seem reasonable but when I add more than one pack to the cart a message appears about stock, I mailed them about it but no reply.

Keith the storm lures are the best ones-they rave about them on the Whitby forum and thats all i use. I have mainly blues and a few whites. I have also caught fish on the small mackeral type.
As to leadheads i bought some when i got into boat fishing off one of the old members on this forum.
I have about a dozen. Also got some leadheads off another member. All have twin tails on. Never had much luck with them but i have seen a big fish caught on one of them last season.
Next time out think i,ll chuck a couple of 14 ounce ones in the box.
They are good over hard ground and wrecks as the hook does not catch on the bottom as easily as a treble hook on a pirk.

Yeah we've had a few canny fish mainly on the herring colour storm shads, even when the fish are going daft for the crab on the inshore wrecks the better ones seem to go for the shads. I have to say it's great fun feeling the fish trying to grab the lure then bang!

got some shads from boyes on chester le street high street. Price was cheap as chips got a load of rigs and bits as well and ended up with half full carrier bag of gear for about £19.
