Mad as a fish

What is the best way to fish with Lead heads, I am thinking they are used in the same way as shads, any advise is welcome.

If it's heavy enough just tie it straight to your line , or via a link of mono if you are using braid and want a weak link , if not , fish it like a shad with a heavy weight to get it down to where the fish are and a leader of 2ft or more to the leadhead. I caught some decent fish yesterday on an 8oz leadhead tied direct to my line fishing in 200ft , I had a black twintail attached to it and bounced it along the bottom , caught a couple of ling as well , always seem to catch ling on twintails , they must like them.

Thank you for your post Ray, I use 60lb braid so I will use mono trace.
