lead melting pots

was just thinking what do different people use to melt there lead in
sometimes when using aluminium pans they melt aswell
what do you yous thanks jeff

Made mine at work with 6" stainless steel pipe, its bombproof.

ive got a iron ladle and a iron melting pot that we used to use for lead run joints on cast iron pipes at work. but a good old heavy pan should work

couple of quid. melts and pours. used mine for nearly 10 years now and still going strong

needs a good rinse before you make a cuppa afterwards though

we very rarely do them now, hence me being able to get the pot and ladle, but i have got some roll ends i kept for making leads.

I've just got a small heavy old pan, used some brute force and a vice to bend a pouring lip into it.

Stainless steel teapot does it for me - remember to remove the strainer section just inside pouring spout. Use Mole grips for holding handle (gets really hot) and divun overfill. nice and easy does it.

the strainer is still in mine, holds back and crud in the lead, and even more surprisingly the handle gets warm but not too hot to handle

i use the stainless t kettle aswell and i have also kept the strainer in it to remove crud etc i also have a spare one which you can have if ya want it

Ive been useing the tea-pot same as the one in Marks picture for about 8yrs, perfect and still going strong.

if you find the handle gets hot, get some sissal and whip around the handle a few times.

shieldsflea market on a friday , i picked a cast iron one up about 4 year ago and still got it, hundreds of weights been made in it by mates and myself and still going strong only paid £3 for it

Lead is exspensive these days, where can you get it from, and will it save you money doing your own wieghts.
