Anyone got any idea where I can buy some lead to make weights from?

You can buy clean lead from either of these scrap yards in low Walker it is 10 pounds for 7 kilos...

Both are using the London Metal Exchange to set their buying and selling prices. If you tell the guys on the scales you want it for fishing weights and ask for clean lead, they do sort it out for you and give good measure.

At 10 quid for 7 kilo it works out a 25 p per 175 gram sinker plus the cost of your wires and long tails (long tails are 50 for 4 quid at Billy,s fishing or ID fishing, Bills are stiffer wire). You can cut them in half and bend the end and push them right home in the mould, this makes them 4 p each. In rough terms 30p per sinker.

When you look at it its not that cheap making them any more I dare not add the price of the gas in.

Hope this helps.
