Lifting out for the winter.

Been over Maryport for a few days getting boat ready to be lifted out for winter on hard-standing.
Weather was forecast poor with strong winds and heavy rain but on the day of lift weather was perfect,warm and sunny with light winds.
I was very lucky on the day of lift as once the mobile hoist is booked then for the lift there's no turning back.
All went well with no problems at all and she was all done steamed down and in the cradle in 2hours.
This year there was very little fouling on the hull and the anodes also only little wasted.A lot of fresh water I think.
The only problem was the prop anode had gone missing must have unscrewed and fallen off.

I am sure them prop anodes fly off within the first week , i have never got mine back with any thing left of the anode before even thou the other three on the boat come back almost like new with the Royal quays marina being fresh water top level for long spells with two streams feeding into it and all the rain we have been getting.

Good job done anyway for you and hope that marina dont get the lock gate problems it had a couple of years Back or you will be glad you lifted her

Yes it's bolt on at the rear of the prop,it's torpedo shape with a m8 Allen bolt holding it on,and it fits over the hex head bolt holding the prop on.
I renew anodes each year because of wastage but never lost one before I maybe never tightened bolt up,but when I fit new one I'll make sure and thread lock it as well..

At least it shows the anode was doing the job it was meant to, i always recommend that shaft anode sizes are increased as they take the lions share of the corrosion.
BTW, nice looking boat, its always a worry when the boat gets lifted out as all us boaters know incase theres some damage etc underneath.
I had mine lifted out last week, fortunately like yours nothing was wrong, its now on its trailer sitting on my drive for the winter

Yeah Ritchy,never ever want this again mate...

How nobody lost there's lives was a miracle mate on that day.Because it happened midday rather than midnight when a lot of people was sleeping on there boats including children.
When the gates failed inwards it was like a big tidal wave running into the marina,people were running for there lives trying to get to safety of the ladders and walkways.
The main damage was at the near gate end but the wash engulfed the the total area,I was lucky I only took damage to my rudder as testament to the build quality of my boat realty.

It took a long time for the police/fire service/coast guard to complete a head count because there was no sigh in book at the marina so they didn't know who was there and who wasn't.
This was like a disaster film.

These are my pics that happened very soon after the disaster.
A lot of boats were total write offs and a few only were insured 3rd party and the legal wrangles are still going on now after all this time.
Marina insurance claiming from gate installer company.
Gate installer blaming marina for keeping gates closed during a spring tide and storm.
Boat owner piggy in the middle and he is the one that's lost his boat with no payments made.

Yes that's looking from the marina where the gate should be looking outwards,looks nice and calm but earlier there was a westerly 9/10 blowing and a massive spring tide.
In the solway weather and tide can change in a couple of hours and put a nasty short sea on that does the damage with wind against strong flowing tide.
