Guys,

Has anyone had any success using Limpets as main hook bait.
Used it for years in rock pools for Polymogs etc, but not as a rod bait.

Very curious.

if u trawl thru forums u can get some pics of the perfect presentation for that . seen guys pull codling in april on them . u have to hook it thru a certain muscle of the limpet .

Done a full trawl of the net with tonnes of results for Slippery Limpets.
None for Rock Limpets.

Caught plenty of species off the pilot when young, Wrasse, Billets, pouten, whities etc on them, just came into my bonce whilst sat at my laptop.

Gonna go digging in the morning and will collect a few for a try this weekend.
Try looking for a few softies aswell.

Cheers Eddie

hi eddie, they seem to work ok in the boat, ive often tipped my worm baits off with a whole one and caught cod, pollack, and plenty wrasse, however when trying them off the shore ive not encountred much, but i dare say if you mix them up with a big mussel bait in the winter they may be swallowed by something nice, tight lines bud korky..

Seem to remember a few years back somebody pulled in a 17 lb cod from the pier at Beadnell. He was bulking up with limpet because of a shortage of worms. I suppose like anything else, if the're hungrey enough, they will swallow them.
