Owned the boat 10 months now and picked up a rope or something 4 times now when traveling up/down the river.

Always tell as the revs change and the boat shudders your teeth loose, been lucky so far...quick stop then full back has cleared it and once lent over and had to pull off a 14ft old rope that was trailing off the back.

Questions

Much on the market for my sytle boat to stop this? (Arvor 18 ...6m)

Do they work?

Cost?

Are they easy to fit? (out the water of course next year)

Cheers for any advice.

As official cabin boy I can see this kind of thing falling under "other responsibilities deemed necessary by the captain of the vessel" :o

...not that I'd mind - saves the cost of a lift out :D

Just have to get Norman to drive him over drop him in, free hot cuppa from the new cooker when job completed :)

Defo need something as 4 times in 10 month all from the river is abit worrying as one day it will get a good bite and stop it dead...out board back up would pay for itself then.

Section 4, Paragraph 3, sub Pargraph 3.1 of "Cabin Boys - servitude is your duty" states that ownership of a Cabin Boy is not transferable from one vessel to another - kind of like house elves in Harry Potter :red:

have the disc type fitted to mine they deffo work picked up a rope last seson and it did the job simple to fit ,the rope cutter type do have washers in them which need replacing regularly ,I'm sure I've seen a test on you tube ,think It was under motor boats and yachting
