Line replacement

Hello lads.

I'm really troubled about my lines' life-time, as i change them too often (i think) since i passed from fixed spools to mutlies.
The first line on my multi was Sakuma Nite-Crystal 16 lb (yellow one) from which i was dissapointed as needed to be changed maximum every 4 fishing sessions.
Now I am using a Penn Surf 15 lb (super long distance - red one) and i think needs to be replaced after about 5 fishing sessions and 2 casting ones.
Is this too often or is it my imagination?
Comparing the two lines i can clearly say that the Penn one is far better than the Sakuma, but still...
Any thoughts?

Cheers, Theo

I use the Sakuma nite crystal in 18lb.As for changing it,if after even one session if i feel a nick in the line i will change it.I dont want to chance loosing a good fish because the line parted.I buy the nite crystal in 4500yd spools,Works out cheaper.......

You're doing well if you can get two sessions, I generally change mine after every session unless it's in good nick.

im the same i usually change my line every session or 2 depending on what sort of fishing iv been doing or how good condition the line is, i use that sakuma night crystal good quality line also use the suffix titanium.

Then i suppose i'm doing quite well changing them this often:cool:
Could you point me to any cheap shop (online or not) to get a big spool?i usually buy my stuff from a shop close to my house, but he seems quite pricy to me:red:

Shows how often I go fishing, be lucky if I need to re-load once a year!

All I'm using is the cheap stuff from Glasgow Angling when it's on special offer for 3 spools. But then again, I've got a few different bits of kit and most of it is for light estuary use or spinning so no real snaggy ground.

Rutherfords in Sunderland have the bulk spools of Sakuma in, £24 and thats probably the cheapest I've seen. Or I saw the Ultima F1 bulk spools in Spotty Dog Tackle for £40, ( I think a normal 4oz spool costs around £10 anyway.)

If your fishing rough ground,ID sell 1000yrd spools of Biox £6.99.Its a bit stiff and doesnt cast very well, but if your chucking into a rocky hole, its ok....I normally use red ice or diawa tournament, but find the Penn line very good for the price.

If I was fishing clean sandy beaches that wouldn't damage my line I would use it a few times. I always check it every time I bring it in anyway. If fishing rocks or more so shingle beaches I would change it very regularly.

Theo, you will find that most of the tackle shops in the area are pretty much the same price ways. You will find though that each shop will have one or two things cheaper than the others. When looking for something expensive it can be worth driving around a few shops to see what you can save but it's not really worth the fuel for small items. I used to use Andy's shop a lot when I used to fish the Sunderland area and found him as good as anyone else mate.

Jim.

i use okoma super something or other, 3 quid for 400 mtrs from N.E.T.S h,pool, change it about twice a year and never had a problem with it , there again i fish mostly clean ground and last season did't have any big fish on to test it [in fact did't have many fish at all to to be honest]
