Live at Blyth Beach

Was planning to be there tonight myself but the bike took longer then in thought.
Good luck for the rest of the night

the rest of the night.....

the rest of the night.....

.....well.....

Stayed another hour or so from original post...and to say it was desperate is an understatement :o

Quite a number of fellow anglers around and not one of us caught anything of note...I followed up my geet small Coalie with a geet small Flattie...

apologies for the large photo...but I had to make it appear bigger than it actaully was :D

Had reasonably high expectations too considering the various catch reports that have been about....oh well, t'was not to be

Night all

Tony ;):D

where did you fish mate just i was on blyth beach (toilets) untill about half 10i was talking to a couple of blokes on the beach who were next to me and my mate not sure if you were one of them lol i blanked at the beach but got a 1lb coalie at hartley skeer straight after lol

Nice report Tony. At least you didn't blank mate. What do you think of the new gear? Are you getting the hang of the multiplier?

It's not too bad...didn't get any really bads birds nests  I can't fault the reel though...it's got a huge handle for reeling in and the winding ratio (6:1) is really quick. I just need a bit more practice (and/or tuition:question:)

The rod is a lot better too (not a floppy shoelace which the other one was) although I reckon I'll get new shrink wrap and move the seat further up

I guess I'll call last night a practice run for Lynemouth next week ;):D

how far do you cast bigpaul? ive only fished blyth beach a couple of times, next to the pipe i think, but ive always thought it to be to shallow at low water, or maybe im not casting far enough, lol:rolleyes:

Today i was hitting about 120yards and i was fishing to the right of the pipe ive always done well from this mark over the last few years most people opt for the farm but ive always had more sucess from here, but i will only fish it over low water.

Blyth beach can fish well over low water.
Next to the pipe is one spot, you have to be careful as the remains of the pipe curve around and you risk a snag at low water.
Meggies burn on a good low tide is another, below one metre is ideal.
Mark 17 is another.
I have caught by dropping a bait in about 50 yards out,did it first by accident, then found it worked well if the surf was not to high.
