right!! how many pots can you chuck out from your boat wihtout having a licence ???
Reason I am enquring is that one of the lads had 3 pots out...but they were pulled by the Fisheries and removed, seemingly if he wants them back he has to go and collect them.
Now have the fisheries pulled them and kept them because there was no boat name on them ??? or what.

Unless I\'m wrong I\'m pretty sure you are allowed 3 without a licence as long as you don\'t sell your catch commmercially. I\'ve used 3 all summer, and a lot of folks I know on the west coast use 3, so maybe they are just being a pain, or possibly some commercial potters have complained.

Not aware that you need a name on the pots, but a name on the marker buoys might be diiferent

haven\'t heard of the fisheries pulling pots up before. Seen them boarding boats to inspect pots and catch, but don\'y think there are any restrictions as to what size pots have to be/mesh size etc as undersized sshell fish can be returned un harmed.

The lad we stay up in scotland with actually fished with 6. He has 3 with a small eye for lobsters and prawns and 3 with a big eye for crabs

;) that\'s what the lad thought 3 pots.. well I always thought it was 4. but they must have a reason for keeping them..pulling them and looking at them fair enough, but why keep them ??
Heather
Yes you are supposed to have your name address and boat name on your pots..shall phone a friend who has a licence for pots and find out.

Aye it takes a day to eat one and the next day you need a rest , unless you have about 8 pints and then I\'ve found you can actually eat loads, although the next days whelk breath is not too nice !
:o

:D so if the lad goes and collects his pots from wherever they took them to he wont be in any bother???? there had to be a reason for lifting them in the first place .???
Whelks use the tails for fishing on the boat..lol.lol.lol..hubby will eat them not me.. to tough.

I guess he should be ok to go and collect. But If it were me I\'d make a \'daft lad\' phone call first along the lines of \" I\'m thinking of getting a couple of pots for my own personal use from my boat etc...how many can I have and are there any restrictions etc etc\" Least that way he\'d be forwarned about any suprises they might try to spring and have something to come back at em with

;) ;) good idea phone first, only thing is he had another lot of 3 pots pulled as well. so he could only ask for one set of 3..
Heather

:D :D found out why they were pulled..you are allowed 3 pots but must have a plastic tag on each pot with boat number and name, asked a mate about it who has got pots.. ;)
Heather

by boat number does that mean boat licence number?? thought the whole point was you don\'t need a licence number for 3 private pots?

boat name and number like ours is 88 highlander

Hey up Heather, Just relized who you are.
How\'s yourself & Ray? (if i\'ve remembered his name right) :D .
Its a few year since i\'ve seen any of you after moving moorings from where you are moored.
My boat was the SARAH JANE II.
