Local Bands ?

While reading the \"best ever gig\" posts, I wondered how many of us lads and lasses can remember some of the local bands from the 60s/70s/80s eras ? If my memory serves me correctly, some of those from South Shields were:

THE INVICTORS.
STEAM.
THE TOUCHDOWNS.
THE SHADY KASES.
THE QUESTIONS.
BRAVE NEW WORLD.
THE URGE.
THE STORMERS.
THE TROUBADOURS.
THE CAESARS.

Thats all I can recall for the moment.

cheers.

err.....yeah, my memories going too!

Oh! to be young and have a Casey Jones hat lol.

Lol.....aye Jonny......memory\'s an \"age\" thing.......lol

Actually, that reminds me.............

Just before we finished work for Christmas, I was asking people if they had anything planned (as you do).....One woman in the office said that she and a few of her friends were going to an old peoples home on Christmas day....the home is for people with Altzhiemers.....they were going to put on a Christmas party to (in her words) \"give them a Christmas to remember\" :exclam: :exclam:

now yer asking, most of the ones from the 80\'s I;ve tried to forget,

shotgun brides were from shields were they not, as were (and still are) venom (stop sniggering at the back)

I know that this band is not from the Eighties, but they are from around these parts....

I remeber being in Fats Sams in 1992 and a band had been slotted in to play....Which at the time I thought was a good thing until the band walked in.......

I was in the bar, yes, the year was 1992, yes again, How old was I, About 16.....Not that much of a problem i hear you say.....on any other saturday it was not a problem at all.....but on this saturday it was......the bassist in the band happened to be my Physics teacher....not good.........not when you are sitting with your friends and he walks up to you and says....So this is why you never hand your homework in on a Monday....Bas@£$d.

Anyway the point to this is...The band was called Manslaughter...and yes they were monumentally cack, but as I sit here now typing this I have the chorus of one of their songs buzzing around in my head.... We are Manslaughter, we drink beer not water

If you were as misfortunate as I was to see them play please let me know......And Mr Newton if you are out there......sorry but you were cack....really really cack

Hey Mark I\'m informed by my son that Venom previously of neat records ,Wallsend ,are the biggest death metal band in the US of A ,funnily enough Kronos the lead singer used to train at the dome in Walker same time as me ,wish I was a couple of quid behind him now eh!

tis true, venom are enormous in the us, and sell out places like madison square garden regularly, In case you were wondering Kronos is better known to his mam as conrad, rock and roll eh!
