Alright lads, heading upto Loch Fyne (around Lochgilphead) on Friday for a weekends fishing/camping. Has anyone been in this area and if so any advice would be appreciated, cheers!

Only been there once but there's a tackle shop in Lochgilphead called fyne tackle. Not sure if they stock live bait but worth a look in. He was full of advice when I went and happy to show us on a ordnance survey map where to go. If you dont get much other info to go off the net, that's the first place id go for a chinwag. They have a website too.

I was staying at a cottage at Minard castle and fished from the rocks half a k walk up from the castle. Tackle shop told fella me that was a good shot for thornbacks doggies and pollock. Nice clean to mixed ground and straight into deepish water maybe 20 to 30 metres deep with a good chuck and 8 to 10 close in. Comfy too. got macky in mid october when the air temp was minus 5! The fish were coming out warm.

Cracking part of the world. Hope to get back there some day

dads just come back from that area on saturday. says fishing was slow, managed to get a couple of hours each night. he was staying at carradale, which is a bit further south but had a few small thornies, pollock and coalies. heard of a few mackies getting caught on boat.

Thanks very much lads i'll let everyone know how we get on

As has been said Fyne Tackle is the place to go. They will give you all the info you need. I think they also run a charter boat out of Crinan. Looks like the weather will be kind to you as well. Good luck and have a great weekend.
