Loch Long?

Anyone fished Loch Long? We are heading up over easter for a couple of days and wondered if anyone has had any success, I have read you can catch Cod, whiting, plaice, mackerel, skate, wrasse, pollack, spurdog and many other species there so gonna give it a go and see what we get

Good luck mate, wherabouts are you going? There is a nice pub in Arrochar called the Village Inn. Nice pint and good food. The chip shop in Arrochar is canny good too.

Not too sure yet we just started arrangements today so will know by the weekend all the details, Just been reading that the old submarine pens are a good area for conger and the loch holds pollack, coalfish, wrasse, cod, ling, mackerel, pouting, whiting, haddock, lesser spotted dogfish, spurdog, plaice, flounder, dabs, conger eels, rays, skate, tope and sea trout

dont know if it still holds the fish it used to years ago.

a number of the species youve mentiond may only be summer visitors.

Sorry mate most of the above are long gone!

Conger/Rays - maybe a few. Small wrasse, dogfish, coalies, dabs. the very odd wee pollack. Some sea trout. Fish it about ten times every year in Summer. Plenty of mackerel from June. Only pulled out 1 dab, 1 dogfish and 1 saithe in three years. We mainly spin for mackerel, but always have a bait rod out. Lovely scenery though. PM me if you need any more info about your trip.

as seery said l/long finished,i would also try inveray at loch fyne,nice short jetty,take a bucket and fork with yous, some canny lugworm [NEAR JETTY],could bring good few back with yous. hopefully this is of some help.tight lines.:thumbup::thumbup:

Was there last year at the campsite at ardgartan in arrochar was really nice had to travel to find the fish tho was mainly mackerel and the odd pollack, was hard going and dont be affraid to keep on the move loads of lovely looking marks.

Looks like a change of location and were gonna hit loch fyne, Trying to persuade them to hit loch etive

Id say Etive would be your best bet rather than Fyne more species and bigger and better as well but still plenty MIDGES wherever you go best o luck cheers James

All that's getting caught in loch long are small wrasse and pollack,and that's
on kayaks,moving about and trying the best marks.The bottom is also a
right pig,so you need plenty lead.

Already been said, but you'll probably get more bites from the midgies. The quary at loch Fynne was always good for pollock using large ragworm freeline with just a couple of lead shot to get it slowly down till a pollock hit it. Always worth a chuck at the Rhu narrows could maybe be some decent coalis there with the strong tide pull on the flood.
The hey days are long gone sadly, and can't see them ever returning the way things are going good luck though, and let us know how you get on.

if your willing to travel all the way to Fyne, you may aswell do that hour or so extra and do Etive both can be excellent if you catch it right

This, or even the pier at Lochaline.....make sure you fill your reels brim full though.
