does anybody out there know if theres anything getting caught at loch ryan as me and a couple off pals are going over next week for a couple of days

i fished it other day and there was mackies and the odd pollock and i fished it last week at night and got dogs and some pin whiting,aint seen any wrasse lately and aint heard of any conger been took lately either,im going to try for a few of the mini species you get at it,corkwing wrasse,blennies etc and iv been told there are a few weavers also but dont know if thats true.hope this helps

I've fished the loch a few times in matches, and this stretch has always been the best.

To be honest, if you're going all the way over there for a couple of days, I'd try the marks round Port Logan, Portpatrick and the Mull. You'll get what you'd get at Loch Ryan (mainly dogs) plus Pollack, Wrasse, and dependning where you go, flats, the chance of conger or even Tope.

Get yourself an ordnance survey map of the area, travel light, and you'll find some fantastic marks.

cracking bit of advice below and last time i fished it there was a fella and his son fishing it from newcastle i think and i personally know a fella who travels to it regular and passes some great fishing spots to fish the coal pier,i fished port logan other day and lost count of the amount of the pollock i caught.
