Hi Lads,
With reports a a few decent fish from Middleton and Pilots piers, I had a bit of bait left over and thought a good opportunity to wet a line in the dark.
With the tide flooding to high water I popped out and set the anchor on the ground.
As we all know the swell was massive with getting out totally out of the question so I tucked in behind the heugh.
From the off I landed 2 codling on the 2lb mark just lipped so they went back, with a few whities then a couple of codlings on the 1-1/2lb mark all went back.
It was getting up towards the top of the tide and I got a small knock, picked it up and slack line, reeled into it and lifted with the tip staying down I knew it was a decent fish, up she came and scaled at 11lb-12oz. spot on.
Hoyed back in and again a small knock, looked at it, then the rod nearly dragged over the side, just lifted into it and again the tip stayed down into a solid strike, up it came 7lb-10oz. nice brace to end the night.
Bait was lug and rag, on long flowing traces.
A couple of shots (tape included)
