I'm thinking of investing in a longer rod well the missus is gona get me one for christmas lol I am after somthing that can get a bait out a long way with a over head lob and also somthing that is tippy aswell so it picks up even the smallest rattle . was thinking of a few rods the century sre , greys triplex or getting somthing made up like a zippy or getting a TT supermatch re rung .

Thanks for any advice posted chaps

The whitby lads got me onto it when I was down there a week or two ago, they swear by them. Dead light and slim, 2 tips but I haven't tried the light one yet. Even the heavy one really shows bites well, last week on the pier I was punching out a 6 oz lead with 2 big baits no bother but seeing positive rattles on the tip from small dabs. The lads I met from from Whitby use them in the rough stuff and from the cliffs with 60lb braid straight through.

I've been there with the long rod route, braid, fixed spool and went back to standard rods. IMO Your better off with a standard 13-14 ft beach rod and some casting lessons.

If you do need a long rod then the Penn Affinity 16ft is the one to go for. More backbone than the others and more suited to 6oz and a cod bait.

The long rod route will not add distance - casting lessons will.

Cheers chukka a mean a can get a decent chuck out with my 13ft mk1 greys grx-s but my brother inlaw can always just pip me on disrane with his triplex 16ft and hes not the best caster lol . Thanks for putting me on to the penn tho :)

Lol am not looking in to a seriously long rod now looking at a century black bird or the century carbon metal express 14ft am in the market for a new rod and they seem to stand out to me , am not bad at casting just prefer the over head thump with the fixed spool also do a bit OTG aswell but seem to get more distance with the over head thump .

Thanks for all the advice lads :)
