LOOKING FOR A NEW ROD ?

Tonyfromalnwick (Tony Cook) has just posted quite alengthy review of a rod that might just fit the bill - the Big Beach 14\'.
As Tony concludes, \"If you\'re looking for one rod to fish clean, mixed and fairly rough venues, think hard about this one.\"

ive got the 13ft4 match rod by anyfish anywhere wat a cracking rod love it it proved it self last weekend wen i pulled a 4lb6oz codling in no probs

They are bringing out a new \'rock\' rod shortly. 14\' 6-8oz. Thinks it is about the £250 mark, haven\'t got the price yet as I only saw the prototype the other day. Fantastic rod though. Plenty of beef and very very stiff. Designed speciffically for the NE coast

Also bringing out a 11\' estuary rod 1-3oz casting weight

Just picking up on something Grommit mentioned (and I\'ve seen it said before).........\"designed for the N.E. coast\"........are the rocks & kelpbeds of the N.E. different to the rocks & kelpbeds of other areas around out coastline ??
Are you more likely to get snagged on Geordie rocks than you are on Welsh rocks? or those on the S.E. coast of Scotland??.........What would happen if you used a rod \"specifically designed for the N.E. coast\" in N.W. Scotland?.......would it still work??

OK.....lol....I was starting to get a bit flippant, there - but the 1st question was a serious one.

Good question though. I think what they mean is that it has been designed in conjunction with NE anglers.

I find anglers from different parts of the country have different likes and dislikes when it comes to tackle, not just in sea but in game (probably more so in game!) so I suppose it is built to the likes of NE anglers

Bit like northern beer and souther beer I suppose. We will count that part of the NE south of the Tyne Bridge as northern for this purpose and this purpose only and only on this occasion!!

Good Question Tony,just my opinion but I think theres more Sea Anglers in the North East that fish the rocks compared to other parts of the UK,so its maybe a sales ploy to get people interested

I remember thinking the same thing when Veals used to sell the \"Channel Special\" which was designed for the heavy bottom and fast tides of the Bristol Channel (and may have been built for them by Terry Woods I think?) And then theres the Conoflex \"Welsh Wizard\" and \"Highlander\".

I bought myself a \"Penn Nor\'Easter\" to avoid any confusion

Thats easy tony, If you look closely at a rod desibned for the NE coast, youll see it has \"not for puffs\" in small letters on the butt.
