Hi,
The plotter had loads of marks on it, we also had charts of the area, which you can get free online.
Four of us fished on the boat comfortably. Not sure if 4 is the maximum allowed.
The trip was booked through a company called Din Tur, which included accomadation, boat hire and all transfers in Norway.
Flights were booked ourselves, through sas airlines

Excellent report. It looks great value for a grand. We are going with Din Turs next March to Hasvg Fritad. Its a 3 hr drive from Trondeim airport. Went last Feb and stayed with Phil at Skarnsundet. My best was a pollack at 9 1/2 pound. Not big but my personal best. I was happy. Would love to try further north like yourselves.
Mick.

Did you get the trip sorted for 2013 then? We are all but sorted now just the last small detail to sort, booked up for July 11th 2013 staying in the same fish camp as your report, i moved abit further north than i fished this year and already started looking at my tackle bag :)

Great report that was, i am not one for taken pic's of the sea or hills etc but you just cant help it when your right up north in norway, everything looks so untouched, no waiting your turn for a drift on a wreck thats for sure :)

2013 I would like to land a 40lb Halibit and monster cod but nice weather and good crack with alot of smaller fish be just as good :)

Nah mate, the trips booked, and thats it! always a last minute job with us, didnt book our alta bus transfers until 3 days before we left last year! Probly book flights once xmas and new year is out the way!
Sandland is great, with excellent ground close by, but same as fishing round here sometimes the fish simply arn't there!

Yer same for us last year when we found the fish 15-20lbers became the norm but if you never found the feeding shoals you got nowt but small coalies. Well this year i have not done the sorting out but no way could i leave it until that close :) i like it all planned out to the small detail.

When you going? 11th of July for us.

Direct flights back on to Tromos in 2013 so that will make it easier for many, only catch is Gatwick airport only so far but more on the cards, skips stopping at Oslo aka the madest airport i have been in (so small so many people)

Flight prices also gone down abit from last year seem to work out about £60 cheaper for next year.

Cheers for the info on the flights, still havnt booked next years flights yet, and with us going to alta, its a nightmare which ever way you go. Think we are gonna fly from Newcastle - amsterdam, Amsterdam - oslo, oslo -alta, night in alta then catch the 1st ferry next morn. Agree with oslo airport, too small and busy, slept on the floor in there last year, wasnt too bad!

Yer agree travel worst part of it by a mile.....Edinburgh to Oslo, over night stay in Oslo then Oslo Tromso then to Alta, ferry bus and big fish :) B&B at Oslo was only £28 so well worth it as thats almost the price of a breakfast in Norway :)

From a North East UK perspective, I think the UK to Norway flights will improve in the next year or so. However, with Sandland Bryyge becoming very popular we grabbed next years 11th to 19th July and booked flights etc well in advance. It's certainly a pain getting there i.e leave Edinburgh on evening of 10th, overnight in Oslo (Best Western Airport Hotel) then up to Alta next morning followed by a minibus and ferry. Travelling back is a long day but hey it's even harder for the Russians, Poles and Germans and that's why the Brits get a reasonable shout at this fishermans paradise.
A few pics to whet the appetite. (I didn't actually catch the Halibut, a couple of Russians both hooked it at the same time and that's how they managed to land it)

It is one amazing part of the world for a salt water fisherman, i had always wanted to go to Norway and now i can see why people like going, even when the fish dont show up the air, the views the wildlife is unreal and you have not been cod fishing until you have been Norway cod fishing its something unreal when your trying to shake off 20lbs because they a "pest" :)

Wont be long Tony, as we spoke about i have already packed my tackle bag with 8 month to spare :) but agree best to book in advance and have it all sorted then you can enjoy a 2013 wrecking season because lets face it, the only way it could be worse than 2012 is 6 months of NE winds or the sea dry up to a desert :)
