decided to try for a few whitings on roker pier after late shift at work tonight, only down about an hour when my rod and reel dissapeared over the railings, i think a log or something must have caught the line in the tide.
so if anyone finds a chrome abu 7500 on a 3 piece ron thompson carbostick please contact me, its a right sickener. i know its a long shot but it might turn up.

Big tides mates so it might well get washed up on the beach might be worth contacting sunderland life gaurds to make them aware they do patrols on waters edge every day if they still working this time of season

micky i'll keep my eyes and ears open for you bud, have you had a word with andy to tell all the lads heading down to keep a look out, you do get the odd honest angler so fingers crossed for you.

i'll put a post up on my site for you and will speak to you at work 2 night

It could also have been a fish. I was fishing there on Thursday night and only got a few whities and flatties but I also handballed a bullhuss up for a lad (defo not a doggie), a nice sole (over 2lb I would say) and also heard some commotion and when I looked over there was this massive head sticking out of the water - definitely a double. Unfortunately the lads only had 1/0 hooks on and their main line also snapped when bringing the fish up (hope it freed itself). When talking to an old bloke who was fishing next to them he says it could have been a 20? Funny things happening on our shores atm but hope you get your rod back bud either way

Micky i,ve lost count how many times i,ve nearly lost my rod and reel. The most memorable when i caught my 7lb er when i was a lad. The fish would have pulled the rod in if a guy had,nt grabbed it.

Lately its been rouge waves pulling the line hard and the rod and reel leaves the rest. Luckily i,ve managed to grab it,allbeit losing eyes on the rod.

Sorry you lost yours mate.Fingers crossed it turns up. Can,t have gone that far.

Mick.

just been told tonight that my rod and reel were caught about an hour after i left the pier and was handed into andys shop, going there tomorrow to collect it, a big big thankyou to the person who caught it, nice to see theres still honest people about !

I remember a year or so back i was fishing on the north pier at Seaham on the drum, i heard a boat coming out so i walked around the lighthouse to let the boats occupants see me. once i was sure that he had seen me i sat back down , but to my horror the boat came belting out and ran straight into my line ripping the rod from the stand. i grabbed hold of it, luckily i had the drag set but as the boat pulled and i tried to pull back the drag let a lot of line out and i was left with a 6 inch gash in my hand.
Not a pleasant afternoon, i would of been gutted to lose my reelsport response, and even more gutted to lose my hand.
