was fishing end of pier today and with very little action and with just occaisioinal border line col's and flounder decided to knock up a rig or2 for something to do, unfortunatly whilst making one, suddenly my rod and went flying over pier wall so fast it was unbelievable with no boats about and no gulls either, i believe it was seal as the rod drifted out to sea very fast and only had time for few casts and was not lucky enough to get a grip lead round it , so am asking all if fishing shields area and come cross a carbon metal crest and a 525 mag please get touch if lucky enough to see it, ano its a long shot but fingers crossed and a lot luck it just might be found

thanks again to the lads on the pier who also tried casting a gripper to try and retrieve rod and to ian ingleson who come down from44 mark and give it try

unlucky that might be lucky to get it back in on the next tide but the tides are getting smaller fingers crossed you get it back

Hi mate, I spoke to as you were coming off pier, we kept our eyes open but seen nowt, but will keep my ears open for you.

It's horrible when you loose fishing gear. Albeit not sea fishing, but a couple of years ago we were fishing in Holland on the Spui River. It was the second to last day. Put rod holdalls on the roof rack as we had done all week, drove back to accomodation to find my one had come off in transit. Drove back the same route to try and find it to no avail. Went to the police station to see if anyone had found it and handed it in but no such luck. Had over £1500 quids worth of gear in (poles, rods etc) that I had had and got used to for years. I made a claim on my travel insurance and after a year of persitance the company paid out less 30% for depreciation and wear and tear. Is there any way you can claim on any insurance policies and get some of your money back to put towards some new gear. I know excesses and raised premiums can be a problem but may be worth looking in to. Fingers crossed it will work out.
