With the sea dropping off overnight to a flat calm it was deciding where to fish. So the pier it was, a few rods out bearing that fresh westerly wind blowing along the pier. After a few small knocks the first fish of the night a whiting just size. Then a surprise fish for me, and the first one i've caught on our coast. A Lesser spotted dogfish, no fish for a while and the wind was getting fresher as the tide ebbed. A canny sized dab was the last fish swung in before a walk back to the four posts. Nothing happening here and the baits came back untouched. A few bits and pieces for our effort, better then a blank i suppose. Let's hope these cod are still about well into the New year. You catch nowt sitting in the hoose, nothing ventured nothing gained
