Well then, can grown men seriously spend hours with tiny lures, messing around at the rock edges and in rock pools, trying to catch tiny fish. The simple answer is yes. To be honest its great fun and i look forward to trying to up the anti a bit next year and pulling some really strange species out, bring on the Leopard Spotted Gobys and Gold Shiny Wrasse.

Great fun, but you get some cracking funny looks dangling a lure in what looks like a puddle :D
Yet to catch a Blenny on LRF believe it or not :casstet:
 
A couple of nice pics there matey. I tried couple of sessions last year with only a small coaley to show, but I'll try again. Then again I was fishing the side of a pier and not puddles.

Thinking of a kind of test. Going to fish with a couple of hooks, 1 with isome and 1 with Gulp. I know which I think will come out on top, but we'll see.

Just one question to throw out to all you lrf guys. Can these species still be caught in winter? as I'm gagging to get out, but a shoulder injury means cod fishing is off the menu for another few months.

I'm going to say yes, although the conditions would have to be right, too much wind and too much swell would make it difficult. The rock pools should fish all year roung though.

Nothing to stop you trying tiny natural baits on the LRF gear at this time of the year, should the lures fail. Water clarity plays a big part with LRF style lure fishing. As Phil suggests, the small species are probably still catchable, but at this time of year the weather and water conditions might be against you much of the time.

If the tide is out, try the deeper/ larger rock pools, you can pick up all sorts. Fish the rock edges on high and low tides. When the sea picks up, try the rivers, jettys etc. practice in the rock pools, it's amazing how much you learn about how Fish approach, investigate and take the lure. It also allows you to understand how the lure behaves underwater and reacts to your actions.
