Decided to have a sneaky hour down the Leas this morning before the meet this afternoon. Headed down that way in the hope of some clear water, I was a little disappointed to find it still quite coloured.

With the water clarity far from perfect I decided to opt for the 'old faithfuls' I.e. Isomes & Bug Ants on an ultra light set-up.

Within minutes I was into the Sea-scorpions. Had a few varying sizes, with a new species on the board decided to conserve my energy for this afternoons session!

It really depends on what your fishing for and what type of lure your using. Most will have an 'action' that mimics what they are copying. Some only require very subtle twitches, whereas others require more action with the rod. A good way of starting off is to just do a plain very slow and straight retrieve, with the lure 'bouncing' across the bottom, pausing at times if you wish. Then try experimenting with slight 'lifts' and 'drops' etc again very slowly at first and with pauses. Sometimes the noise of a jig head slightly tapping against a rock is enough. :-)
