Last night fished with a few pals of mine up in the Beadnell area of Northumberland, fishing was very slow but we did have the odd good bite at times.

First fish came to me a 6lb 13 ounce Cod, caught somewhat by fluke! I get a cracking bite, I strike...fish on. I then bring in a weight and hook that didn't seem to belong to anybody and on the end was a nice Cod, flapping and very much alive??????????.

I had a bite, I played the fish, so it was mine all mine. Not sure if it would have counted in a match though?

Also caught two other fish legally that were around the 4lb weight and ended the night with a 15lb 7 ounce bag of fish.

It just didn't happen for the other lads and I'm a bit gutted about that but hey there's always another time. Tightlines, Dave.

Well done. You are a dab hand at catching fish. As to the cod on the line you caught it. you hooked the dead line. Don,t know about any compo but you would have thought it counted.whose bothered anyway if its like my 7lb er it will be in fillets in your freezer by now.

Best wishes for 2009.

Never fished a comp myself (not salt water anyway) but I would be interested to know whether it would have been allowed in a comp?
