Luminous Pirks

Following on from my earlier post about the best rig for the end of March and all the other talk of pirks, does anyone know where to order (online) some good highly luminous paint, tape etc which I can apply to a chrome pirk and then varnish? Not bothered if it only lasts for the 1 session.

I have looked but drawn a blank (and I\'m not prepared to pay the best part of £50 for a one off roll of tape!).

Alternatively if anyone knows where I can buy (mailorder) luminous torpedo pirks that would be handy.

Cheers

Mike if i remember, there is a paint available,if you message Dave Mason i am sure he will point you in the right direction,it was a topic a while ago

Phoned one supplier in Newcastle Fossway and they wanted 53 quid for 2 and a half litres for the dayglo is that about correct or is there cheaper out there

John,

I got about 7or 8 tins ( 500ml ) for about £43-00 . The luminous was about £7-00 I think . It will last forever .

That was too dear imo mate . Further , the only colours that came out tops were the orange , yellow , and luminous .

Thanks for the info guys, how much postage do they charge Mike and Dave thats a lot cheaper than Ive been quoted.

HOW MUCH!!!!

Bloody hell. Just checked John. Their standard delivery cost (including 1 small can) is £10 + VAT! For that I\'d want a Police escort on the bloody stuff.

At least you get an idea of what you can get the paint for. Won\'t be buying from them though!

Pretty good feature on Luminous Pirks in the new Total Sea Fishing - Pitty they don\'t give suppliers details though - wouldn\'t mind trying some of those out !

Dave, are you sure about those prices? last time i rang that local supplier they quoted in the region of £40 for 500ml of luminous paint?

I\'m pretty sure a \"work colleague\" paid almost that for a tin! :D

There was also a tin of varnish in there Keith and I think the delivery was a tenner which pushed the bill up to around the 40 quid mark.

I\'ll give it credit it is definately luminous. I tried it on a red pirk which wasn\'t the best of results. Will have to just use a white basecoat then the lumnous and then the varnish.

Got the paint from NWE paints.

Keith,

i think your right m8 , she probably charged me for a 250ml tin instead when I\'ve checked around nobody does it that cheap

Went down to get some for John and it\'s shut now :P

Started spraying my pirks this year till I needed some more lumi paint I think I paid about £17 for a 250ml tin from coovar in Hull the guy behind the counter said it was due to the high cost of the lumi pigment which is imported from the states, sure it wasn\'t that much last year so I\'ve gone back to the brush application as spraying the garage walls was working out very expensive ;)

I sent my details off to Coo-Var asking where my nearest stockist was - they sent me details of how to apply their paint. If I could get it I would apply it!

Leaving the luminous paint for know and settling with fluorescent orange. I got a 59ml bottle of Plasti-Kote Brush On Fast Dry Enamel paint for £3 from Meadowhall. Looks enough to do 6 or 7 pirks. They also had it in a spray but I\'d prefer to get a few good thick cotes on with a brush. Let you know how it works. Should be pretty tough hopefully.

UK-Hooks do a range of powder paints, it\'s worth emailing them and asking for a catalogue, there\'s loads of goodies that aren\'t advertised on their website.
